The Yaxley Vintage festival is a fantastic way to spend the weekend. Hosted by the local scouts and guides, the festival was home to numerous stalls and rides, as well as a petting farm, supplying you with food to feed the bunnies and goats (for free!) making it a perfect place for young children. The event ran on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June. The festival is free to enter, although donations are accepted.

However, it doesn’t stop there! The main attraction of the festival was the fun dog show. The audience were greeted by an abundance of cute canines – a paradise for any dog lover! There was a £2 entrance fee for any dogs participating in the show and £1 extra for subsequent classes. All sorts of breeds of dogs of all ages attended, showing themselves off for the prize.

The classes included Cutest Puppy, Prettiest Bitch, Most Handsome, Waggiest Tail, Best Rescue, Golden Oldie, Junior Handler, Fancy Dress, Judges Favourite and Best In Show. The show lasted from 12pm-2pm, with Tibetan Mastiff Boa taking the crown, winning a rosette, certificate and a bag of dog treats!

There was a wide variety of food available – with burgers, ice cream, and even vegan options you really can’t go wrong. The prices were reasonable and what you’d expect from a village festival. Although the festival was outdoors, there was also an indoor area you could visit to shelter from the temperamental rain, and whilst you’re there grab yourself a slice of cake and a coffee.

Vintage cars and motors filled the event, pulling in people of all ages, making it a great way to spend the father’s day.

I tend to find that with a  lot of fundraiser events the main focus is on making money, and this can often make visitors feel pressured and uncomfortable however this festival had a wonderful community feel to it, and I felt welcomed and accommodated for the entirety of my visit.

If you are looking for a community day out full of fun and activities, then I highly recommend taking a visit to the Yaxley Vintage festival next year!
