If you don’t know where to go today…(Saturday 5th October) you must take the kids to the East of England Arena and Events Centre for the Feel The Force Day event (we have sponsored a page in their autographs & souvenirs brochure) £1 on the gate.

It’s a fabulous day out with loads of characters for the kids and fanatics to pose with. You can see from the photos how good and scary some of these costumes are but you can also get some not so scary visits as you sit with Mary Poppins, have a photo with Scooby Doo’s Mystery Machine, meet the Ghost Busters and the Disney Princesses. The great thing is there is plenty of space for wheelchairs to go round and the event is ‘hands on’ which means that it’s not like other usual costume events where you can’t touch, this is all about letting those with disabilities enjoy their day too.

As you arrive you’ll find some fun and games with the enourmous bubbles for kids where you may get the chance to play with the characters like Chewbacca! Entry is via the foyer where you’re greeted with the Delorean car from back to the future (sorry no touching). The far end of the foyer houses the cafe where you can grab something to eat (if you don’t mind the long wait!) as that’s the only one.

Turn left and you’ll enter in the main hall and be welcomed with the magnificent sight of the Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters where you can start your way around the room. Plenty of loos by the way. Cats, horror, sci-fi you name it you’re going to find it. There’s evern wrestling going on in the ring and some dinosaurs on walkabout.

The Touch and Feel tables are great as you never know what toy/ornament you’re going to find. I found Uncle Bulgaria next door to the Pink Panther! You can pick them up look at them, feel them, but please put them back as the Market Stalls can be found behind this area right a the back of the main hall. Lots of bits and bobs to buy; posters, toys, boxed cars, how to survive the living dead and a lot of memorabilia, so have your money ready.

You’ll find some special guests too awaiting meet and greets in the centre of the hall like: Roy Beck, Oliver Smith, Keith De’Winter, John Altman, Mike Fielding and lots more, here you can have signed prints, autographs from those behind the scenes or maybe have a selfie (chargeable)… in the main arena will be celebrities Nick Brendon (Buffy), Sherrie Hewson (Benidorm), Sheila Reid (Benidorm) and Amanda Barrie( Corrie) so watch out for their arrival.

I stayed for around 2 hours milling around visiting everywhere including to have a chat with Mary Poppins… it’s a great day out I can’t recommend it enough. Watch out as this exhibition event grows and gains more visitors year on year.

It’s better to order your tickets in advance as it’s £7.50online but £10 on the gate.
