So it’s launched…🤩🤩🤩
Peterborough has been put on the map by getting its own MONOPOLY GAME. Whoop.
After first speaking with Yasmin back in January 2024 about Peterborough being chosen for its very own Monopoly edition it’s been a long old wait. Behind the scenes there have been businesses picked, photographs chosen, cards created and finally, yes finally, the Peterborough Monopoly edition launched this morning at Weston Homes Stadium.
In attendance at this momentous occasion were attractions and charities from around the board: Posh (Peterborough United Football Club), Peterborough Cathedral, Peterborough Lido, Railworld Wildlife Haven, the Cresset, Little Miracles, the Light Project, the Straw Bear Festival, Up the Garden Bath, Artist Nathan Murdoch from Street Arts Hire for the four murals at our gaes to the city (an idea given in place of the four railways stations that we don’t have) Nene Park, Flag Fen, UCP, City College and ARU and many more around the board as you go.
Speeches were given by the iconic Posh supporter, manager, trainer,,, Posh everything Mr Barry Fry and our Deputy Mayor Wayne Fitzgerald. It was good to see so many people at the launch, including those who had sent in their photographs which were picked; like Tony Garratty for his River Nene shot (who coincidently is a previous winner for the We Love Peterborough calendar), you’ll find a few of mine on there too. The Old Flour Mill, The Customs House and the Sculpture Park.
Lots of other places and public photos (including mine) around the board. You’ll find when you play that We Love Peterborough will pop up in a Community Chest card giving you a prize of £10 when you join the #LoveLocal #ShopLocal discount card scheme. LOL
You and the family will be playing with the traditional icons: the top hat, the Scottie dog, an old boot, a thimble, a ship and the racing car but also a slinky catand a wheelbarrow, (those two were never there when I was a child and they definitely weren’t as shiny! … Which one are you going to pick?
