PCRFM’s Craig Bunday speaking with David Hutchinson (Director of Selladoor ) and Richie Ross (Peterborough’s Manager)
We’re at a Press Invite today talking about all the new shows, productions, music and plays coming to New Theatre Peterborough, when they take over, officially, in September 2019.
Changes in the theatre will be minimal with some extra stage space allowing some larger shows to appear here, however, the theatre still has its ‘wow’ factor and they want to bring the West End to us in Peterborough.
New Press and Marketing Manager Jack has moved from Vivacity so it’s great to have some Peterborough locals involved in its promotion. They really are behind making the theatre work for the people in the city and build back confidence with everyone.
The first show up will be ‘RIP it up The 70s’ featuring Louis Smith. (20th September) tickets from £25.50.
We spoke with Nigel who is the puppet director for a new release coming to us will be Avenue Q which although it looks like Sesame Street it’s definitely NOT for the kids. (18+)!!! With 11 puppeteers through the show it’s a lot of hard but enjoyable work. Showing 24-28 September. Tickets from £19.50.
For the theatre as a whole there will be a WORLD PREMIERE coming next week! (25-27 July) It’s called Noiseboys a brand new tap dancing and beatboxing spectacular show and you’ll be seeing it FIRST. Tickets from £10.
First show for the kids is going to be the smash hit musical Madagascar. With all their favourite friends and songs the kids are going to live it. It’s on stage from 2-6 October. Tickets from £19.50.
And then a big name in lights…. it’s live – it’s Lulu! She’s live on stage as she starts her mammoth tour of the UK. Her show is packed full of well-known hits and will be here for you to singalong on 10th October. Tickets from £38.
Other great productions coming up are a classical psychological thriller called Gaslight with Martin Shaw (21-26 Oct) Tickets from £19.50, Agatha Christie’s classic The Mousetrap starring Susan Penhaligon. (4-9 November) Tickets from just £18, and a great musical ‘Fame’ based on the 1980 pop culture film will be on stage 25-30 November. Tickets from £22.50.
Then finishing the year off will be the panto from Prime Pantos … The Wizard of Oz! James and Rochelle told us all about it and it will be a panto with a difference, lots of twists and turns, amazing singers and dancing on stage, some from local dance schools, so get those tickets booked. You’ll join Dorothy and her friends Scarecrow, the cowardly lion and the tap-dancing tin man on her journey through Oz. It stars Strictly’s champion Katya Jones as Glinda and will be here 14-31 December, tickets from £12.
There really are some fantastic SHOWS coming up and there’s something for everyone. So when you’re passing pop in and pick up a brochure or go have a look online. https://www.newtheatre-peterborough.com
