WOW who would have thought that in our lifetimes we would have a monarch reign for 70 years. Well done Ma’am. She still looks at bright as a button and the whole of the UK are celebrating with her. Even in Peterborough… so what did we get up to?
An early morning walk on Thursday 2nd June around the town centre and I captures some #PlatinumJubilee celebration bunting in the city. Flags on the Guildhall, flags down the centre of Bridge Street, tree lights sparkling red, white and blue. Some businesses have put up their celebratory decorations and even caught one red-handed LOL.

Later that afternoon in I attended the #JubileeJamboree at Queensgate Peterborough where lots of families were having some fun and games, music and of course some afternoon tea with biscuits and nibbles… You could meet the girls and boys in red, white and blue doing a great job entertaining the kids too.
Then later on in the evening, I went back in to town to see Peterborough Cathedral front lit up in the red, white and blue and a beacon being lit in front of the town hall with dignitaries from the city. The Mayor and Lady Mayoress lit the beacon to celebrate HRH Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee (set for 9.45pm however I think we jumped the gun a little lighting it at 9.35pm LOL) There was also bagpipe music, a bugle solo, singers and a speech.
God save the Queen.
I haven’t seen one street party I’m afraid, not even my street as it’s the main road (impossible) but I do hope that you all had a good time if you had one.
