Take a drive out to Newborough and you’ll find a wonderful farm shop that I never knew about until a friend told me. (Thank you Sonya)
Set back from the main road, Moor Farm is a farm shop and cafe combined. Plenty of parking with a full selection of products.
I spoke to owner and Farmer Judith, who had been out with the cows this morning @7am and then down to help daughter Rosie get the coffee shop ready for opening. They grow sugar beet for British Sugar, so only sell British Sugar’s sugars. They grow mustard for Coleman’s. Their Little Red Tractor Farm Assured lamb and beef is home reared and free range, with their poultry and pork being sourced locally. In fact, they promote local producers by selling their products. Their meats are served up from the 70 year family butcher, their own recipe…Kitty B sausages, fresh fruit and vegetables, farm eggs.
Around the shop you’ll find independent suppliers of cakes, biscuits, etc. there’s a range of gluten-free products too. They also have freezers for ‘FieldFare’ where you can get your frozen produce by weight like cinnamon rolls, strawberries, even Yorkshire puds!
The tearoom/cafe is large with plenty of seating both inside and out. I spotted the gluten-free chocolate cake but went for an alternative…For breakfast at 9am we had a bacon bap which was very tasty, my husband had a couple of sausage (bacon already gobbled up lol), cup of tea and a cold Cawston Press Elderflower. Thank you Carl (chef).
I feel refreshed and cool. A lovely morning breakfast sitting out in the quiet countryside and sunshine with a cool breeze. And, a bag of food for the weekend pasta sauce making, and sausages.
They are open for breakfast and lunches. Open Tuesday to Sunday. So go try them.
