Breathing new life into something over 100 years old!
MD Coffee closed from the market area a fair while ago now, however, after spending weeks doing some renovation inside the old D’arcy’s jewellery shop which closed after an enormous 97 years of trading, Deborah and Masoud opened their coffee shop on Monday to the public and it looks fabulous!
Deborah has kept some of the old items which used to be inside the jewellers, namely one of the jewellery cabinets, which has been carefully moved from the front to the back area and now has a display of jewellery in there which they are selling. When knocking down the wall they even discovered a beautiful brick fireplace from years gone by that had been covered up!
Along with Italian and Turkish coffee‘s, cakes, nibbles and other bits to eat they are selling lots of specially picked pieces: scarves, gloves, handmade soaps, timepieces, led light strings and even a Christmassy light up robin.
You can sit in the front and watch passers by, sit in the back for a bit of quiet or…. Wait for it! Sit in their courtyard garden which is currently being worked on. What a dream of a house it would have been back then, it’s wonderful to see.
If you want to return to them as a previous customer or try them as a new coffee spot their opening times are 7.30am to 5pm Monday to Saturday.
